What sort of cheeses are French children first introduced to?
Traditionally, we make babies taste Roquefort with butter on some bread (so it’s not too bitter for them) when they start to eat. We do that because we believe it’s good to make them have good taste later in life. Just like some parents can put a very very very little amount of wine in a big glass of water, so the children would easily like wine when they reach adulthood. It’s to get them used to the taste actually. But we give very very small amount of it though, we are not bad parents xD
Then, on a daily basis, they eat sweet cheeses like babibel or La Vache Qui Rit, which are quite creamy cheeses and which flavour is really soft. Then we go with things like Brie, Mozzarella, Emmental, which are a little stronger yet still creamy or easy to like.
