Hi! I was just wondering about the use of "le lavabo" et "l'évier." I know they respectively refer to the bathroom and kitchen sinks. If someone says that they need to use the sink without preferring one or the other, which word do they use?

The difference between lavabo and evier isn’t the place where they are. they’re two different kinds of sink. Un lavabo is a small sink, most of the time made of enamel or stone. Un évier is a very large sink, most of the time made of steel and sometimes in enamel. But it’s like, really large, that’s why we use it in a kitchen but not only.
Consequently, you’d automatically choose one depending on why you want to use it.
